Our Name
The name Naswenda came from a deep consideration of what modern women go through to contribute to family needs financially, create successful careers for themselves and also play a parental role. It was in a way a reminder for the founder that whatever risks she takes in her career and business, it should never be at the detriment of her children’s future. This, we believe, is what every parent considers before going into business. The name is thus taken from the names of the founder’s children (The first syllable of each child’s name was taken, these were combined to form the name Naswenda).
Furthermore, our reason for existence is to support small businesses to grow to large enterprises that provide jobs and economic growth in South African and beyond. We have learnt that In TshiVenda, -swenda means the early stages of crawling of a baby or support. This meaning is aligned with our objective of providing support to small businesses.
